Description

Charles Mingus – Changes One & Two combines the albums Changes One and Changes Two on a double LP. Both came from the same sessions on December 27, 28 and 30, 1974 at Atlantic Studios in New York, produced by İlhan Mimaroğlu, and were released in 1975. Mingus plays with his mid-1970s quintet: George Adams, Don Pullen, Jack Walrath and Dannie Richmond. Well-known pieces include the long "Sue's Changes", the political "Remember Rockefeller At Attica" and "Duke Ellington's Sound Of Love", heard here in both an instrumental and a vocal version. This copy is the 1975 German Atlantic edition (cat. no. ATL 60 108) in a gatefold sleeve with original label inner sleeves.

FAQ

Is Changes One & Two a separate album?
It is a compilation of the two albums Changes One and Changes Two, both released individually in 1975, in full. All tracks come from the same December 1974 sessions.

Why does "Duke Ellington's Sound Of Love" appear twice?
Changes One has the instrumental version, Changes Two a shorter vocal version with Jackie Paris. Mingus wrote the piece after Duke Ellington's death in May 1974.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means records and sleeve show light wear and the records play cleanly; the sleeve has visible shelf wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Charles Mingus records?
Yes, for example Town Hall Concert, Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus and Jazz Portraits. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
