Description

Bill Evans – Trio 64 is a trio album by pianist Bill Evans for Verve (cat. no. V6-8578), recorded on December 18, 1963 at Webster Hall in New York and produced by Creed Taylor; it was first released in 1964. It is Evans's only studio recording with bassist Gary Peacock, with Paul Motian on drums. The repertoire is mostly standards, including Irving Berlin's "Always" and – unusually for Evans – "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town". This copy is a German stereo reissue in a gatefold sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The original was released in the US in 1964. This is a later German reissue with the same catalogue number V6-8578, in stereo and in a gatefold sleeve.

What makes Trio 64 special?
It is Bill Evans's only studio LP with Gary Peacock on bass. Peacock later became best known for his long partnership with Keith Jarrett.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means record and sleeve show light signs of use and the record plays through cleanly. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Bill Evans records?
Yes, for example Bill Evans Trio – How My Heart Sings or Bill Evans & Jim Hall – Undercurrent. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
