Description

Bill Evans & Jim Hall – Undercurrent is a duo album by pianist Bill Evans and guitarist Jim Hall, recorded on April 24 and May 14, 1962 at Sound Makers in New York, produced by Alan Douglas with engineer Bill Schwartau. The original edition came out on United Artists Jazz in 1962. It was Evans' first album as a leader after the death of his bassist Scott LaFaro in July 1961. Without bass or drums, the two play standards plus Hall's own Romain. This copy is the 1988 US Blue Note reissue (B1-90583), produced by Michael Cuscuna, with two previously unissued tracks and an inner sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The album was first released by United Artists Jazz in 1962. This record is the 1988 US Blue Note reissue.

What is different from the original?
The Blue Note edition has eight tracks instead of six: Stairway To The Stars and I'm Getting Sentimental Over You come from the same sessions and were previously unissued.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more records by Bill Evans or Jim Hall?
Yes, for example Bill Evans Trio – At Shelly's Manne-Hole, Bill Evans – Trio 64 and Ron Carter And Jim Hall – Live At Village West. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
