Description

Keith Jarrett – Birth is an album by Keith Jarrett's so-called "American Quartet" with Dewey Redman, Charlie Haden and Paul Motian, released on Atlantic in 1972 (cat. no. SD 1612). It was recorded in New York in the summer of 1971, produced by George Avakian and engineered by Lew Hahn. Contrary to a common assumption it is not a solo piano record: besides piano, Jarrett plays soprano saxophone, recorder, banjo and steel drums, and the band moves between free, lyrical and grooving passages. Further pieces from the same sessions later appeared on "El Juicio (The Judgement)". This copy is the 1972 US original pressing.
