Description

Miles Davis – Bitches Brew is a double album by trumpeter Miles Davis, recorded August 19–21, 1969 at Columbia Studio B in New York and produced by Teo Macero; it was released in the US in March 1970. Davis worked with a large electric line-up of two bassists, several drummers and electric pianists, including Chick Corea, Joe Zawinul, John McLaughlin and Wayne Shorter; Macero edited the long improvisations into the finished pieces. The album is regarded as a starting point of jazz-rock; the cover painting is by Mati Klarwein. This copy is a European reissue on CBS (cat. no. 66236) in a gatefold sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. This is a European reissue on CBS, cat. no. 66236, in a gatefold sleeve. The first edition came out in 1970.

Why is Bitches Brew so famous?
With its large electric line-up, rock rhythms and pieces assembled in the studio, Davis opened jazz up to rock and funk. Many of the musicians went on to form their own fusion bands, such as Weather Report, Return To Forever and the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the record means light signs of use that hardly affect playback. For the sleeve, VG+ means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Miles Davis records?
Yes, for example a European original pressing of Bitches Brew (1970), its predecessor Miles Davis – In A Silent Way or Miles Davis – You're Under Arrest. More titles are in our Jazz-Rock collection.
