Description

Miles Davis – Bitches Brew is a double album by trumpeter Miles Davis, recorded on August 19–21, 1969 at Columbia Studio B in New York and produced by Teo Macero; it was released in the USA on March 30, 1970. Davis worked with a large electric line-up of two bassists, several drummers and electric pianists, and Macero edited the long improvisations into the finished pieces. The album is seen as a starting point of jazz-rock; the cover painting is by Mati Klarwein. This copy is a 1970 European original pressing on CBS (cat. no. S 66236) in a gatefold sleeve with original inner sleeves.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
It is a European CBS pressing from the 1970 release year with catalogue number S 66236. The very first edition was issued in the USA on Columbia.

Why is Bitches Brew so well known?
With its large electric band, rock rhythms and pieces assembled in the studio, Davis opened jazz up to rock and funk. Many of the players went on to form their own fusion bands, such as Weather Report, Return To Forever and the Mahavishnu Orchestra.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Miles Davis records?
Yes, for example its predecessor Miles Davis – In A Silent Way, Miles Davis – Miles In The Sky and Miles Davis – You're Under Arrest. More titles are in our Jazz-Rock collection.
