Description

Gato Barbieri – El Pampero is a live album by Argentine tenor saxophonist Gato Barbieri, recorded on June 18, 1971 at the Montreux Jazz Festival and produced by Bob Thiele for Flying Dutchman. Barbieri combines free jazz with South American rhythms and melodies, including Carlos Gardel's tango "Mi Buenos Aires Querido" and Atahualpa Yupanqui's "El Arriero". Lonnie Liston Smith is on piano, with Naná Vasconcelos among the percussionists. This copy is the 1972 French first issue on Philips (6369 350) in a gatefold sleeve.
