Description

Gato Barbieri – Ruby Ruby is the second album by Argentine tenor saxophonist Gato Barbieri for A&M Records (cat. no. SP 4655), released in 1977 and produced by Herb Alpert. It was recorded at A&R and Media Sound in New York and at A&M Studios in Hollywood, with arrangements by Barbieri, Alpert and Jay Chattaway. The album pairs Barbieri's raw, vocal tone with Latin rhythms, horn sections and jazz-funk grooves; alongside his own pieces it includes the film song "Ruby" and tunes by Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder. This copy is the 1977 US original pressing with inner sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1977 US first edition on A&M Records with catalogue number SP 4655, including the inner sleeve.

What is the song "Ruby"?
"Ruby" comes from the 1952 film "Ruby Gentry", composed by Heinz Roemheld with lyrics by Mitchell Parish. Barbieri turns it into the album's six-minute opener.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) on the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Gato Barbieri records?
Yes, for example Gato Barbieri – Tropico, Gato Barbieri – El Pampero and Gato Barbieri – Under Fire. More titles are in our Latin collection.
