Description

Charles Mingus – Blue Bird is an album from a single overnight session on October 31, 1970 in a Decca studio in Paris, recorded during the European tour of Mingus's sextet, the day after a concert in the city. The recordings came out in 1971 on the French label America across two LPs, Blue Bird and Pithycanthropus Erectus. With Charles McPherson, Bobby Jones, Eddie Preston, Jaki Byard and Dannie Richmond, Mingus plays a long version of "Reincarnation Of A Lovebird", a take on "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" and the 17-minute title track. This copy is the 1971 French original (cat. no. 30 AM 6110).
