Description
Charles Mingus – Jazz Portraits is a live album recorded on January 16, 1959 at the Nonagon Art Gallery in New York, produced by Nat Hentoff and engineered by Rudy Van Gelder. The original came out on United Artists in the US in 1959; the album was later also issued as Mingus In Wonderland. Mingus leads a quintet with saxophonists John Handy and Booker Ervin, pianist Richard Wyands and drummer Dannie Richmond through four long pieces, including "Nostalgia In Times Square" and "Alice's Wonderland". This copy is a 1976 Japanese reissue in United Artists' Jazz Library series (cat. no. GXC 3142), without OBI, with insert.
