Description

A Tribe Called Quest – The Low End Theory is the second album by New York group A Tribe Called Quest, released in 1991 on Jive. Recorded at Battery Studios, Greene St. Recording and Soundtrack Studios in New York, it was largely produced by the group itself, with recording and mixing done together with Bob Power. The record combines rap with jazz samples and prominent bass lines, and jazz bassist Ron Carter plays on “Verses From The Abstract”. “Check The Rhime”, “Jazz (We've Got)” and “Scenario” with Leaders Of The New School became well known as singles. This copy is the 2024 reissue on Jive (19658884871) as a double LP.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The album was first released in 1991. This double LP is a 2024 reissue by Jive.

Who plays the double bass on “Verses From The Abstract”?
Ron Carter, who among other things played in the Miles Davis Quintet of the 1960s. His guest spot reflects how closely the album is tied to jazz.

What does “New & factory sealed” mean?
The record is unplayed and still in the manufacturer’s original shrink wrap. We do not open it, so there is no separate grading of record and sleeve. Our grading system for used records is explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more A Tribe Called Quest records?
Yes, for example A Tribe Called Quest – Midnight Marauders (EU reissue 2019) and A Tribe Called Quest – Beats, Rhymes And Life (2LP). More titles are in our Hip Hop & Rap collection.
