Description

Hugh Hopper – 1984 is the first solo album by Soft Machine bassist Hugh Hopper, named after George Orwell's novel; track titles such as "Miniluv" and "Minitrue" come from its ministries. It was recorded in July and August 1972 at Advision Studios in London and first released in 1973 on CBS. The long pieces "Miniluv" and "Miniplenty" are built from bass loops, tape loops and layered sound, while the shorter "Minipax" parts are horn-driven jazz rock. This copy is the 1979 UK reissue on IRI (5010).
