U2 – October is the second studio album by U2, released on October 12, 1981 on Island Records. Produced by Steve Lillywhite, it was recorded in July and August 1981 at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin; "Fire" had already been recorded in April during a tour break at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas. Because Bono had lost a briefcase with lyric drafts in Portland in March 1981, many lyrics were written in the studio. The album reached No. 11 in the UK charts, and the singles were "Fire" and "Gloria". This copy is the limited, remastered 2019 EU reissue on cream 180g vinyl.

Why were the lyrics written in the studio?
In March 1981 Bono lost a briefcase with lyric drafts at a show in Portland, Oregon. It only resurfaced in 2004, so he had to write most of the lyrics for the album in the studio.
