U2 – The Unforgettable Fire is the fourth studio album by U2, released on October 1, 1984 on Island Records. Produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, it was recorded between May and August 1984, first at Slane Castle in County Meath and then at Windmill Lane Studios in Dublin. The title comes from an exhibition of pictures by survivors of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. The album reached No. 1 in the UK, and the single "Pride (In The Name Of Love)" peaked at No. 3. FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
No. The original was released in 1984 on Island Records. This record is a limited 2019 35th anniversary reissue on burgundy vinyl.
Where does the album title come from?
From a travelling Japanese exhibition of paintings and drawings by survivors of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, which was shown at the Peace Museum in Chicago, among other places.
What does 180g mean?
The record weighs 180 grams, heavier than a standard LP. Heavy vinyl sits more steadily on the platter and is less prone to warping.
