Description

David Bowie – The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is David Bowie's fifth studio album, a loose concept record about the alien rock star Ziggy Stardust. It was recorded between November 1971 and February 1972 at Trident Studios in London, produced by Bowie and Ken Scott, and first released on RCA in June 1972. This copy is the 50th-anniversary half-speed master LP released by Parlophone on 17 June 2022 (DBZS 50): John Webber cut it at half speed at AIR Studios from restored 192kHz transfers of the original Trident tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl.

FAQ

What does half-speed mastered mean?
In half-speed mastering, the source and the cutting lathe run at half speed. The cutting stylus has more time to cut the groove, which is meant to render fine treble detail and transients more precisely.

Is this the original pressing?
No. The original was released on RCA in 1972. This copy is the 2022 anniversary edition on Parlophone. We also have the 2022 picture disc edition.

Is the record new?
Yes. The record is new and factory sealed, so it has not been opened or played.

Do you have more David Bowie records?
Yes, for example David Bowie – Diamond Dogs (Italian original 1974) or David Bowie – Station To Station (Canadian original 1976). More titles are in our Rock collection.
