Blue Note Vinyl Records

Blue Note on Vinyl

Blue Note is an American jazz label founded in New York in 1939 by Alfred Lion, who had emigrated from Berlin, later together with his childhood friend Francis Wolff. With the recordings of sound engineer Rudy Van Gelder and the covers by Reid Miles, Blue Note shaped hard bop in the 50s and 60s: Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Hank Mobley, John Coltrane and many more.

Here you will find Blue Note records, used and new: pressings from various decades and current reissues. Every record is graded to the Goldmine standard, and the photos show the actual copy.

FAQ about Blue Note

How can I spot a Blue Note original pressing?
Important clues are the address on the label (early pressings give a New York street address, later ones “New York USA” or, from 1966, Liberty), the deep groove in the label (“Deep Groove”) as well as the “RVG” stamp and the “ear” symbol in the run-out groove. More on this in the guide “First Pressing or Reissue?”.

Are Blue Note reissues worth it?
Yes. Originals from the 50s and 60s are expensive, while the newer series such as “Classic Vinyl” and “Tone Poet” are carefully mastered from the original tapes and the best choice for listening.
