George Shearing, The Quintet + Amigos - Continental Experience (Vinyl LP)

George Shearing – Continental Experience is an album by British pianist George Shearing with his quintet and the "Amigos", two Latin percussionists. It was recorded at the MPS studio in Villingen, recorded and mixed by Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer, and first released on MPS in 1975. Besides Shearing's best-known composition Lullaby Of Birdland, the group plays standards such as The Nearness Of You, Someone To Watch Over Me and The Continental, plus Edward MacDowell's To A Wild Rose. The vibraphone-and-guitar blend of the classic Shearing sound is extended here with congas, bongos and timbales. This copy is a German pressing on MPS/BASF (cat. no. 20 25612-6).
