Description
Kraftwerk – Doppelalbum is a double-LP compilation of early Kraftwerk recordings, first released on Philips in 1974. It combines pieces from the first two albums “Kraftwerk” (1970) and “Kraftwerk 2” (1972) with the complete 22-minute “Autobahn” and “Kometenmelodie 2” from the album “Autobahn” (1974). It documents how the Düsseldorf group around Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider moved from krautrock improvisation to the electronic sound that later shaped synth-pop and techno. On offer is a 1976 German repress (Philips 6623 057) in a gatefold sleeve.

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
No. The compilation first came out in 1974; this is a 1976 German repress on Philips, cat. no. 6623 057.
Which albums do the tracks come from?
“Ruckzuck”, “Stratovarius” and “Vom Himmel Hoch” come from the debut “Kraftwerk” (1970), “Klingklang” and “Wellenlänge” from “Kraftwerk 2” (1972), “Autobahn” and “Kometenmelodie 2” from the album “Autobahn” (1974). A small detail: the label misspells “Klingklang” as “Klinklang”.
Why are early Kraftwerk records sought after?
The band never officially reissued its first two albums on CD – vinyl editions like this double album are therefore the easiest way to hear this music. Read more in our guide Krautrock rarities: spot original pressings.
What does Media NM- / Sleeve VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the records are almost like new, with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page. More records are in our Krautrock collection.
