Description

Phuture – Acid Trax is based on “Acid Tracks”, released on Trax Records in Chicago in 1987 and regarded as the foundation of acid house. Phuture – DJ Pierre, Earl “Spanky” Smith Jr. and Herb J – coaxed the squelching acid sound out of the Roland TB-303; DJ Ron Hardy made the track famous at Chicago's Muzic Box. This copy is the 1988 Belgian edition on Who's That Beat? (WHOS 6), with the eleven-minute A-side plus “Phuture Jacks” and “Your Best Friend” on the B-side.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
The first edition of “Acid Tracks” came out on Trax Records in the US in 1987. This is the 1988 Belgian edition on Who's That Beat? (label code LC 7800). You can recognise it by the matrices “WHOS 6 - A1 FOON” and “WHOS 6 - B1 FOON” in the run-out groove.

Why “Acid Trax” and “Your Best Friend”?
For this edition “Acid Tracks” was renamed “Acid Trax”. The third track is printed on the label as “Your Best Friend” – on the 1987 Chicago Trax release it is called “Your Only Friend”.

What does media NM- / sleeve VG+ mean?
The record is near mint, the sleeve shows light wear. More on our Vinyl Grading page.
