Description
Ahmad Jamal – Ahmad Jamal At The Blackhawk is a live album by the Ahmad Jamal Trio, recorded on January 31 and February 1, 1962 at The Blackhawk jazz club in San Francisco. The original edition came out on Argo in 1962 (LPS-703), produced by Paul Gayten, with liner notes by John Hammond. Jamal plays with Israel Crosby and Vernel Fournier, his long-standing trio; it is one of their last recordings together, as Crosby died a few months later. The programme is mostly standards plus Jamal's own Night Mist Blues. This copy is a Dutch licensed pressing on Funckler (MGCH 9221).

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
No. The original edition was released in the US by Argo in 1962. This is a Dutch edition on the Funckler label, manufactured by Artone in Holland.
Why is this line-up special?
Jamal, Crosby and Fournier played together for several years and recorded, among others, the well-known album At The Pershing. The Blackhawk recordings are among their last sessions together.
What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means record and sleeve show light signs of use and the record plays cleanly. There is a tiny sticker on the label. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
Do you have more Ahmad Jamal records?
Yes, for example Ahmad Jamal – Live At The Montreal Jazz Festival 1985. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
