Description

Anthony Phillips – The Geese & The Ghost is the debut album by Genesis founding guitarist Anthony Phillips, released in March 1977 in the UK on Hit & Run Music (HIT 001). It began in 1974 as a collaboration with Mike Rutherford and was recorded between October 1974 and November 1976 at Send Barns (Surrey) and the Argonaut Galleries in London; Phil Collins sings two of the songs. After Charisma declined to release it in 1976, it came out independently, in the US on Passport Records, where it reached No. 191 on the Billboard chart. This copy is the 1977 UK edition with inner sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes, it is the 1977 UK first edition on Hit & Run Music with cat. no. HIT 001.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of wear that barely affect playback or the overall look; this applies to both record and sleeve here. The inner sleeve is included. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Which Genesis members are involved?
Mike Rutherford plays throughout the album and co-wrote three pieces, and Phil Collins sings "Which Way The Wind Blows" and "God If I Saw Her Now". Phillips himself was Genesis' guitarist until 1970.

Do you have more Anthony Phillips records?
Yes, for example Wise After The Event (UK 1978) and Sides (US 1979). Phillips' last album with Genesis is Genesis – Trespass. More titles are in our Progressive Rock collection.
