Description

Bang The Party – Release Your Body is an acid house track by the British group around Kid Batchelor, Keith Franklin and Leslie Lawrence. Bang The Party were the first UK act signed to Derrick May's Detroit label Transmat; "Release Your Body" first came out there in 1988, the same year as the UK release on Warriors Dance. The four versions are by Mayday (Derrick May) and Kid Batchelor. This copy is a later US reissue from the "Transmat Classics" series (cat. no. MS-5) at 45 RPM in a plain sleeve. The exact release year of this edition is not confirmed.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. This is a US reissue from the "Transmat Classics" series, cat. no. MS-5. The first issue came out on Transmat in 1988; the exact year of this reissue is not confirmed.

What does the condition mean?
The vinyl is graded NM- (Near Mint minus) and shows hardly any signs of use. "Generic" means the record comes in a plain sleeve without its own artwork, so there is no sleeve grade. More on our Vinyl Grading page.

Who is Mayday?
Mayday is an alias of Derrick May, founder of Transmat and one of the pioneers of Detroit techno. He did the Mayday Mix and Late Night Release.

Where can I find more acid house?
More records are in our House and Techno collections.
