Description

Beggars Opera – Lifeline is a studio album by the Scottish progressive rock band Beggars Opera from Glasgow, released in Germany on Vertigo in 1980 (cat. no. 6435 060). It was produced by the band together with Nick Smith. By then the line-up had changed considerably: founding guitarist Ricky Gardiner had left, and Gordon Sellar moved from bass to guitar. The sound is more melodic and rock-oriented than on the early Vertigo albums. This copy is the 1980 German stereo pressing on Vertigo.

FAQ

Is this an original pressing?
Yes. Lifeline was first released in 1980, among others in Germany on Vertigo with catalogue number 6435 060. This copy is such a German pressing from the year of release.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of use that barely affect the overall impression. The sleeve is also graded VG+ (with shelf wear). All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

How does Lifeline compare to the early albums?
Early records such as Act One or Waters Of Change rely heavily on organ and classical quotes. Lifeline is more compact and rock-oriented, with shorter songs and a stronger focus on vocals, though Lost In Space and Bad Dreams are longer pieces.

Do you have more Beggars Opera records?
Yes, for example Beggars Opera – Waters Of Change (DE Original 1971), Beggars Opera – Pathfinder, Beggars Opera – Sagittary. More titles are in our Progressive Rock collection.
