Description

Billy Cobham – The Best Of Billy Cobham is a compilation first released by Atlantic in 1979 (cat. no. ATL 50 620, US issue SD 19 238). It collects pieces from Cobham's Atlantic years 1973 to 1976: three tracks from his debut Spectrum (including "Stratus" and "Quadrant 4"), plus selections from Crosswinds, Total Eclipse, A Funky Thide Of Sings and the live album by the Billy Cobham / George Duke Band. Cobham, formerly drummer with the Mahavishnu Orchestra, helped define the 70s fusion sound with these records. This copy is a European issue with the French 321 price code, pressed by Record Service Alsdorf.

FAQ

Which albums do the tracks come from?
Quadrant 4, Snoopy's Search / Red Baron and Stratus come from Spectrum (1973), Spanish Moss and The Pleasant Pheasant from Crosswinds (1974), Moon Germs from Total Eclipse (1974), Solo / Panhandler from A Funky Thide Of Sings (1975) and Do What Cha Wanna from the Billy Cobham / George Duke Band live album (1976).

Is this the original pressing?
No. The compilation was first released in 1979. This is a later European issue with the same catalogue number, identifiable by the French 321 price code.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Billy Cobham records?
Yes, for example Billy Cobham – A Funky Thide Of Sings or Billy Cobham – Crosswinds. More titles are in our Fusion collection.
