Description

Black Roots Players – Ghetto-Ology Dubwise is a dub album on Sugar Minott's Black Roots label (cat. no. BR 2000), released in 1980. It was produced and written by Lincoln “Sugar” Minott, recorded at Channel One and mixed by Scientist at King Tubby's studio. The Black Roots Players are the studio line-up behind Minott's productions; the sleeve thanks the Soul Syndicate Band and the Youth Promotion Youths. Players include Earl “Chinna” Smith, Tony Chin, Gladstone Anderson and Freddie McGregor on drums. This copy is a 1980 original pressing.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes, this is the 1980 first edition with catalogue number BR 2000. It was followed by a 1981 UK edition (BRLP 2000E) and reissues in Jamaica in 2001 and in the UK in 2017.

Who are the Black Roots Players?
That was the name of the studio band on Sugar Minott's Black Roots label. On this album it is made up of musicians from the Soul Syndicate and Minott's Youth Promotion circle, mixed by Scientist at King Tubby's.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG (Very Good) means the sleeve shows clear wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Black Roots Players records?
This is currently our only record under that name. From Sugar Minott himself we have, for example, Sugar Minott – Give The People and Sugar Minott – Sufferer's Choice. More titles are in our Reggae, Ska & Dub collection.
