Description

Boards Of Canada – Music Has The Right To Children is the Warp debut album by Scottish brothers Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin, released in April 1998 jointly on Warp Records and Skam. With slightly detuned analogue synthesizers, laid-back hip hop beats and sounds reminiscent of 1970s educational and nature films, the album had a lasting impact on IDM and ambient and is regarded as one of the classics of 1990s electronic music. Tracks such as "Roygbiv", "Aquarius" and "Telephasic Workshop" are among the duo's best known. This copy is the UK reissue of 5 April 2004 as a double LP (warplp55 / skalp 1).

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The first edition was released in 1998. This is the UK reissue of 5 April 2004 on Warp Records and Skam with the same catalogue numbers warplp55 and skalp 1.

What do Media NM- and Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means a near-new record with at most minimal traces, VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of use, overall in good shape. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Where does the name Boards Of Canada come from?
The name refers to the National Film Board of Canada, whose documentaries the brothers watched as children. Their sound aesthetic of voices, tape hiss and slightly wavering tones runs through the whole album.
