Can – Monster Movie (Vinyl LP | DE Original | 1970)

Can – Monster Movie is Can's debut album and one of the cornerstones of krautrock. Recorded in July 1969 at Schloss Nörvenich with singer Malcolm Mooney, it first appeared in August 1969 in an edition of 500 copies on the small Music Factory label, then in May 1970 with an updated cover on Liberty. The 20-minute “Yoo Doo Right” was edited down from six hours of improvisation. On offer is the German Liberty edition from 1970 (LBS 83342 I).

FAQ

Is this the first pressing?
No – the very first edition was released in 1969 on Music Factory in just 500 copies. This copy is the German Liberty edition from 1970 (LBS 83342 I), issued after the deal with Liberty Records / United Artists.

How can I recognise krautrock original pressings?
What to look for in labels, catalogue numbers and sleeve variants is explained in our guide Krautrock rarities: how to spot original pressings.

What does media VG+ / sleeve VG mean?
VG+ means the record shows light signs of use. VG means the sleeve shows more noticeable wear – here a small tear on the back. Details at Vinyl Grading.
