FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No – this is the 1972 UK Reprise reissue (K 64026). The original came out in the US in 1969 on Straight Records.

Why does the album sound so unusual?
Beefheart often sketched the pieces without conventional notation; the Magic Band rehearsed the intricate parts for months in a shared house in Los Angeles. The result is deliberately jagged and unpredictable.

What do media NM- / sleeve VG+ mean?
NM- means near mint with barely visible marks; VG+ for the sleeve means light wear. More on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have other editions?
Yes – e.g. the 1985 UK edition and the US edition on Straight/Reprise. Find more in our Psychedelic Rock collection.
