Description

Charlie Byrd – Charlie Byrd is a direct-to-disc recording by US guitarist Charlie Byrd, issued in 1977 as a limited edition on white vinyl. In this process the music is cut straight onto the lacquer without tape, so each side has to be played in a single flawless take. Byrd, known for Jazz Samba with Stan Getz, plays with his brother Joe Byrd on bass, Wayne Phillips on drums, Paula Hatcher on flute and Bill Reichenbach on trombone. The programme ranges from the Venezuelan Moliendo Café to Janis Ian's At Seventeen and Django Reinhardt's Swing 39. This copy is from the limited white-vinyl edition with cat. no. Wagner Tonträger 6.25099 AP.

FAQ

What does direct-to-disc mean?
The band plays live in the studio and the signal is cut straight into the lacquer without a tape machine. This saves a tape generation and is known for a very direct sound, but allows no edits or corrections.

Is this white vinyl?
Yes. As stated, this is a limited edition on white vinyl, as issued for this recording in 1977.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG (Very Good) for the sleeve means clear signs of wear such as edge or corner wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Charlie Byrd records?
At the moment this is our only Charlie Byrd record. More titles are in our Jazz collection and our Latin collection.
