Description
Delroy Wilson – Worth Your Weight In Gold is an album by Jamaican singer Delroy Wilson, released in the UK in 1984 on Burning Sounds (cat. no. BS 1060) under licence from Gussie Clarke's Music Works label. It was produced by Augustus “Gussie” Clarke, recorded at Channel One and mixed at Joe Gibbs and Treasure Isle. According to the sleeve all six titles are “full length extended versions”: each vocal runs straight into a long dub section, hence running times of six and a half to almost ten minutes. Wilson is backed by Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare. This copy is a 1984 UK original pressing.

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
Yes. The album was released in the UK in 1984 on Burning Sounds with catalogue number BS 1060, and this is that edition. Later reissues came out in Italy, on Earmark in 2003 and on Radiation Roots in 2017.
What does “extended version” mean?
Each song is pressed in a long version: after the vocal, the rhythm carries on as a dub, often with horns and effects. This format was common on reggae LPs and 12" singles in the early 1980s.
What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
Do you have more Delroy Wilson records?
This is currently our only Delroy Wilson record. Also produced by Gussie Clarke with the same studio band is Tetrack – Trouble. More titles are in our Reggae, Ska & Dub collection.
