Description

Depeche Mode – Black Celebration is the band’s fifth studio album, released by Mute on 17 March 1986 (UK: STUMM 26, Germany via Intercord: INT 146.818). It was recorded between November 1985 and February 1986 at Westside and Genetic in London and at Hansa in Berlin, produced by Depeche Mode, Gareth Jones and Daniel Miller. Martin L. Gore wrote every song and sings “A Question Of Lust” himself; the singles were “Stripped”, “A Question Of Lust” and “A Question Of Time”. The album reached number 4 in the UK and number 2 in Germany. This copy is the 1986 German first edition on grey vinyl with the original inner sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. According to the discography, the German first edition with catalogue number INT 146.818 came out in 1986 on grey vinyl. Later grey represses carry a newer Mute logo.

Which songs does Martin Gore sing?
On “Black Celebration” Martin L. Gore sings lead on “A Question Of Lust”, “Sometimes”, “It Doesn’t Matter Two” and “World Full Of Nothing”, and shares “Here Is The House” and “Dressed In Black” with Dave Gahan.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+, small tear mean?
For the record: NM- (Near Mint minus) means close to new, with at most minimal signs of use. For the sleeve, VG+ stands for light wear – details are listed under Condition above. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Depeche Mode records?
Yes, from the same album era for example Stripped (Highland Mix, 12") and A Question Of Time (New Town Mix, 12"), plus the later 1990 grey repress. More in our Synth-Pop collection.
