Description

Eddie Harris & Les McCann – Second Movement is the studio follow-up to the hit album Swiss Movement, which the two had recorded live at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1969. Produced by Arif Mardin, Second Movement was made at Atlantic Studios in New York and released on Atlantic in 1971 (US cat. no. SD 1583). Harris plays tenor and electric saxophone, McCann plays Fender Rhodes electric piano and sings, joined by Cornell Dupree on guitar, Jerry Jemmott on electric bass and Bernard Purdie. The music is grooving soul jazz with a jazz-funk edge, with gospel choir, strings and horns on some tracks. This copy is a European reissue on Atlantic (cat. no. 40 246).
