Description

Elvis Presley – A Date With Elvis is a compilation released by RCA Victor on July 24, 1959, while Elvis was serving in the army in Germany. With no new studio recordings available, RCA had to bridge the gap and assembled ten tracks: Sun recordings from 1954 and 1955 such as "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Good Rockin' Tonight" and "Baby Let's Play House", plus songs from 1956 and 1957 including "(You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care" from Jailhouse Rock. This copy is a German reissue on RCA Victor (LSP 2011 / 26.21013).

FAQ

Why was the album released in 1959?
Elvis served in the US Army from March 1958 to March 1960, mostly in Germany. During that time RCA released compilations like this one to keep him in the public eye without new recordings.

Is this the original pressing?
No. The original was released in the US in 1959 (mono, LPM 2011). This copy is a later German reissue; the exact year of pressing is not stated.

What does Media VG+ / Cover VG+ mean?
Both record and sleeve are graded VG+. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of use that barely affect playback or the overall impression. The record shows light marks. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Elvis Presley records?
Yes, for example For LP Fans Only or Good Rockin' Tonight (10"). More titles are in our Beat / Rock & Roll collection.
