Description

Gary Burton, Steve Swallow – Hotel Hello is a duo album by vibraphonist Gary Burton and bassist Steve Swallow on ECM (cat. no. ECM 1055 ST). It was recorded on May 13 and 14, 1974 at Aengus Studio in Fayville, Massachusetts, produced by Manfred Eicher, and released in 1975. Both players overdub several instruments: Burton adds marimba and organ to his vibraphone, Swallow adds piano to his electric bass. Most of the tunes are by Swallow, alongside pieces by Carla Bley and Mike Gibbs. This copy is the 1975 German original pressing.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is the 1975 German first edition on ECM with catalogue number ECM 1055 ST.

Why does the duo sound so full?
Burton and Swallow overdubbed extra parts in the studio, such as marimba, organ and piano, which gives the duo arrangements several layers.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Gary Burton records?
Yes, for example Gary Burton / Chick Corea – Crystal Silence and Gary Burton Quartet – Country Roads & Other Places. Steve Swallow also plays on Carla Bley with Steve Swallow – Night-glo. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
