Description

Genesis – Nursery Cryme was originally released in 1971 on Charisma and is the first Genesis album with Steve Hackett and Phil Collins. Peter Gabriel’s theatrical storytelling, Tony Banks’ Mellotron and organ arrangements and long pieces such as “The Musical Box”, “The Return Of The Giant Hogweed” and “The Fountain Of Salmacis” shape its darker, more dramatic sound. On offer is a UK reissue on Charisma (CAS 1052) with the small “Mad Hatter” label in a gatefold sleeve.

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No – the original came out in 1971. This copy is a later UK Charisma reissue with the small “Mad Hatter” label, pressed in the second half of the 1970s. You get a period UK pressing with gatefold sleeve.

What does the cover show?
Paul Whitehead’s painting is inspired by “The Musical Box”, the album’s opening track.

What does Media NM- / Sleeve VG+ mean?
The record is near mint minus, the sleeve shows light wear. See our vinyl grading guide for details.

Do you have more early Genesis?
Yes, for example the predecessor Genesis – Trespass (UK repress 1972). More in our Progressive Rock collection.
