Description
Gentle Thoughts – Gentle Thoughts is a direct-to-disc album released by JVC in Japan in 1977 (VIDC-1-E). Behind the name is a line-up of American session players around Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, Patrice Rushen, Ernie Watts, Anthony Jackson and Harvey Mason. It was recorded on May 28 and 29, 1977 at Warner Brothers Studios in North Hollywood, with the signal cut straight to lacquer without a multitrack tape (cut by Bob Hata). The programme features pieces by Grusin, Ritenour and Mason plus Herbie Hancock's Gentle Thoughts. This copy is the 1977 Japanese original in a gatefold sleeve with insert.

FAQ
What does direct-to-disc mean?
The band plays each side in a single take while the sound is cut straight into the lacquer. There is no multitrack tape and no editing, which is why the method is known for very faithful sound.
Is this a Japanese band?
No. Gentle Thoughts was a project of the Japanese label JVC, but it was played by US musicians such as Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, Patrice Rushen and Harvey Mason in Los Angeles.
What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of wear. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
