Description

George Coleman – Amsterdam After Dark is an album by tenor saxophonist George Coleman, who among other things played in Miles Davis's quintet in the 1960s. Despite the title, it was not made in Amsterdam: it was recorded on December 29, 1978 at Sound Ideas Studio in New York, produced by Wim Wigt for his Dutch label Timeless (cat. no. SJP 129), which released it in 1979. With Hilton Ruiz, Sam Jones and Billy Higgins, Coleman plays mostly his own pieces plus a long version of "Autumn In New York". This copy is the 1979 Dutch original pressing.
