Description

Jan Hammer – The First Seven Days is a concept album by Czech keyboardist Jan Hammer that sets the seven days of the creation story to music. It was released on June 30, 1975 on Nemperor Records (cat. no. NE 432), recorded in 1975 at Hammer's own Red Gate Studio in Kent, New York. Hammer, formerly keyboardist with the Mahavishnu Orchestra, produced the record himself and played almost everything alone: piano, electric piano, Moog and Oberheim synthesizers, Mellotron, drums and percussion. This copy is the 1975 US original pressing.

Each piece stands for one day of the biblical creation, from darkness through light, oceans, plants and animals to mankind and the seventh day. The music combines jazz-rock with early synthesizer sounds, played almost entirely by Hammer himself.
