Joy Division – Closer was released in 1980 on Factory Records, recorded at Britannia Row Studios and produced by Martin Hannett. It came out shortly after the death of singer Ian Curtis and, with tracks like “Atrocity Exhibition”, “Isolation”, “Twenty Four Hours” and “Decades”, is one of the defining post-punk albums. On offer is the German 1981 edition on Factory (0060.361 / FACT XXV), distributed by Metronome – with printed inner sleeve.

It is the first German edition from 1981 on Factory (0060.361), made by PRS Hannover and distributed by Metronome. The UK original came out in 1980.

How do I recognise the German pressing?
By the text “Made in W.-Germany” and “Im Vertrieb der Metronome Musik GmbH”, plus a colourless embossed “PRS Hannover” stamp on the back cover.
