Description
Judy Mowatt / Joy Tulloch – Black Woman / Black Beauty is a roots reggae single featuring two female singers. On the A-side Judy Mowatt, a member of the I Threes (Bob Marley & The Wailers' backing vocal trio) since 1974, sings her own song "Black Woman"; the B-side is Joy Tulloch's "Black Beauty" (Tulloch/Mowatt). The single was produced by Geoffrey Chung and Judy Mowatt and first released in Jamaica in 1977. The song later gave its name to Mowatt's album Black Woman (1979), regarded as the first reggae album produced by a woman herself. This copy is the 1979 Dutch issue on Fleet (cat. no. 100 830).

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
It is the 1979 Dutch original issue on Fleet ("Made in Holland"). The very first issue of the single came out in Jamaica in 1977.
Who were the I Threes?
The I Threes were the vocal trio of Judy Mowatt, Rita Marley and Marcia Griffiths, who backed Bob Marley & The Wailers in the studio and on tour from 1974.
What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ for the sleeve means light wear. "woc" (writing on cover) means there is writing on the sleeve, here on the inside; the sleeve also has a tiny tear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
Do you have more Judy Mowatt records?
