Description

Kraftwerk – Radio-Activity (German title "Radio-Aktivität") is the fifth studio album by the Düsseldorf band, released in 1975 as the follow-up to their breakthrough "Autobahn". The bilingual concept album plays on the double meaning of radio waves and radioactivity, combining melancholic synthesizer melodies with Geiger counter clicks, Morse code, radio dial sweeps and vocoder voices. It is the first album by the classic line-up of Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider, Karl Bartos and Wolfgang Flür. This copy is the 1993 US reissue on Capitol Records (S11-56855 / SN-16380).

FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. "Radio-Activity" was first released in 1975. This is the 1993 US reissue on Capitol Records with catalogue numbers S11-56855 and SN-16380.

What do Media NM- and Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means a near-new record with at most minimal traces, VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of use, overall in good shape. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

What is "Radio-Activity" about?
Side one revolves around radioactivity and broadcasting at the same time, side two around stations, antennas and radio stars. In 1991 Kraftwerk re-recorded the title track for the album "The Mix", turning it into a clear anti-nuclear statement with references to Chernobyl, Harrisburg, Sellafield and Hiroshima.
