Description

Kraftwerk – The Man-Machine (German title "Die Mensch-Maschine") is the seventh studio album by the Düsseldorf band, released in May 1978. Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider, Karl Bartos and Wolfgang Flür distilled their cool synthesizer sound into compact pop songs; "The Robots" and "The Model" remain among their best-known tracks. "The Model" even reached No. 1 in the UK charts in early 1982. The red and black cover is inspired by the work of Russian constructivist El Lissitzky. This copy is the 1993 US reissue on Capitol Records (S11-56854 / SN-16302), produced through CEMA Special Markets, a division of Capitol.

What do Media NM- and Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means a near-new record with at most minimal traces, VG+ (Very Good Plus) means light signs of use, overall in good shape. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Why is "The Man-Machine" considered so influential?
Its mix of synthesizers, vocoder voices, precise electronic rhythms and catchy melodies became a template for synth-pop, electro and later techno. "The Robots" and "Neon Lights" have been covered and sampled many times.
