Description

Mongo Santamaria With Hubert Laws, Chick Corea & Nat Adderley – Skins is a double LP on which Milestone combined two Riverside albums by Cuban conga player Mongo Santamaria in 1976: "Mongo Explodes" (recorded in spring 1964, sides A and B) and "Go, Mongo!" (recorded in July 1962, sides C and D). Hubert Laws and Nat Adderley play on the first part, Chick Corea plays piano on the second. Orrin Keepnews produced the set and wrote the liner notes. FAQ

Which albums does the double LP contain?
"Skins" combines two Riverside LPs: "Mongo Explodes" from 1964 on the first disc and "Go, Mongo!" from 1962 on the second.

Is this the original pressing?
The "Skins" compilation first appeared in this form on Milestone in 1976; the recordings themselves had already been released in 1962 and 1964, which is why it counts as a reissue.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
Record: NM- (Near Mint minus) means close to new, with at most minimal signs of use. Sleeve: VG (Very Good) means clear signs of wear, but fully intact. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
