Description
Moondog – Moondog is the 1969 orchestral album by New York composer and street musician Louis Hardin, known as Moondog. In the UK it was issued on CBS (cat. no. S 63906). It was produced by James William Guercio, with Moondog's manager Al Brown as associate producer; Moondog conducted a large studio orchestra in New York playing new orchestrations of pieces from the 1950s and early 1960s. Alongside the orchestra you can hear two of his self-built instruments, the trimba and the hus. "Bird's Lament" is dedicated to Charlie Parker. This copy is the 1969 UK original pressing in a gatefold sleeve.

FAQ
Is this the original pressing?
Yes, this is the 1969 UK edition on CBS, cat. no. S 63906. In the US the album came out the same year on Columbia Masterworks.
Is this jazz or classical?
A bit of both: Moondog wrote tightly built, contrapuntal orchestral music with pulsing rhythms that appeals to jazz listeners as much as to fans of modern classical music. He is regarded as a forerunner of minimal music.
What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) for the record means close to new with at most minimal signs of use. VG+ (Very Good Plus) for the sleeve means light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.
