Description

Pekka Pohjola – B The Magpie is the second solo album by Finnish bassist Pekka Pohjola, known from the progressive rock band Wigwam. It was released in Finland in 1974 on Love Records as Harakka Bialoipokku; Virgin Records issued it in the UK in 1975 as B The Magpie. It was recorded in October 1974 at Marcus Music in Stockholm, produced by Måns Groundstroem. The pieces loosely follow the story of the magpie Bialoipokku and combine jazz-rock with horn arrangements, featuring among others Eero Koivistoinen, Pekka Pöyry and Seppo "Baron" Paakkunainen. The Madness Subsides was later sampled by DJ Shadow for Midnight In A Perfect World. This copy is the UK original pressing on Virgin (V 2036).
