Description

Ras Michael & The Sons Of Negus – Nyahbinghi is an album by Jamaican Nyabinghi drummer and singer Ras Michael with The Sons Of Negus, first released in 1974 in Jamaica on Starapple and in the UK on Trojan (cat. no. TRLS 113). It was produced by Tommy Cowan, with the selection made by Ras Michael and Cowan; it was recorded at Dynamic Sounds and Harry J Studio, where the overdubs were also done. FAQ

Is this the original pressing?
No. The album first came out in 1974. The 1980 Trojan pressing with the same catalogue number TRLS 113 is a reissue: the labels read Ⓟ 1980, the sleeve Ⓟ 1974, and the labels are blue. The 1974 first pressing has white and orange labels.

What is Nyabinghi?
Nyabinghi is the ritual drumming and chanting music of Rastafari, played on bass drum, fundae and repeater. On his records Ras Michael combines it with reggae elements.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG+ mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG+ (Very Good Plus) means the sleeve shows light wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more Ras Michael records?
Yes, for example Ras Michael & The Sons Of Negus – Disarmament. More titles are in our Reggae, Ska & Dub collection.
