Description
Rip Rig + Panic – God is the debut album by the band Bruce Smith and Gareth Sager formed after The Pop Group split, together with pianist Mark Springer; Neneh Cherry and bassist Sean Oliver joined soon after. The group took its name from the Roland Kirk album "Rip, Rig and Panic". Musically, free jazz and free improvisation collide with post-punk, funk and reggae – untamed, playful and still pretty much one of a kind. The album first came out in 1981 as a double 12" at 45 RPM on Virgin; the four sides are named after colours (red, yellow, green, blue). Tracks like "Knee Deep In Shit" and "Those Eskimo Women Speak Frankly" show its range.
On offer is the European original pressing from 1982 on Virgin / Uh Huh Prods (302 159-420) – two 12" records at 45 RPM, with the original inner sleeve (OIS).
