Description

Robert Pete Williams – Sugar Farm is an album by Louisiana blues musician Robert Pete Williams (1914–1980), whose unconventional song structures and guitar tunings made him one of the most individual voices in the blues. Folklorists Harry Oster and Richard Allen found him at the Louisiana State Penitentiary; his first recordings date from 1959, and he later played the Newport Folk Festival (1964) and, from 1970, festivals across the US and Europe. “Sugar Farm” was recorded on 11 and 12 March 1972 at the Meilhaus Sound Studio in Munich. On offer is the 1972 Austrian pressing on Roots (SL 512) in a Blues Beacon sleeve (1932 101).
