Description

Ron Carter – Anything Goes is an album by bassist Ron Carter on Kudu, CTI's soul jazz imprint (cat. no. KU-25 S1). It was recorded in June and July 1975 at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, produced by Creed Taylor and engineered by Rudy Van Gelder. Carter plays funky fusion jazz with a horn section, backing vocals and guests such as David Sanborn, Michael and Randy Brecker, Hubert Laws, Eric Gale and Richard Tee; arrangements are by Carter and David Matthews. Alongside his own tunes the album features Cole Porter's title song, Dave Grusin's Baretta theme and the Stylistics hit Can't Give You Anything (But My Love). This copy is a US original pressing with its original inner sleeve.

FAQ

What is Kudu?
Kudu was a sublabel of Creed Taylor's CTI Records which, in the 1970s, mainly released soul- and funk-leaning jazz records, for example by Grover Washington Jr., Esther Phillips and Hank Crawford.

What does "cut-out" mean on the sleeve?
Cut-out copies were marked as remainder stock by the label or a dealer, usually with a small notch, a hole or a clipped corner on the sleeve. The record itself is not affected; it is graded NM-, i.e. close to new. The sleeve (VG) shows clear signs of wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Is this the original pressing?
Yes. This is a US original pressing on Kudu with catalogue number KU-25 S1 and its original inner sleeve.

Do you have more Ron Carter records?
Yes, for example Ron Carter – Spanish Blue or Ron Carter – Yellow & Green. More titles are in our Jazz collection.
