Description

The Mighty Diamonds – Ice On Fire is the second album by Jamaican vocal trio The Mighty Diamonds – Donald Shaw, Fitzroy Simpson and Lloyd Ferguson – released in 1977 on Virgin Records (cat. no. V 2078). Unlike their debut Right Time, it was not made in Kingston but at Sea-Saint Studio in New Orleans: Allen Toussaint and Marshall Sehorn produced, Wardell Quezergue wrote the arrangements, and New Orleans musicians back the trio. Alongside their own songs, the Diamonds sing Toussaint tunes such as “Sneakin' Sally Through The Alley” and Smokey Robinson's “Tracks Of My Tears”. This copy is the 1977 UK original pressing.

FAQ

Did Joe Gibbs produce this album?
No. Ice On Fire was produced by Allen Toussaint and Marshall Sehorn at Sea-Saint Studio in New Orleans. That makes it an unusual record in the trio's catalogue, where Jamaican harmony singing meets New Orleans soul.

Is this the original pressing?
Yes, it is the 1977 UK original edition on Virgin with catalogue number V 2078. A US edition came out on Virgin/CBS at the same time.

What does Media NM- / Cover VG mean?
NM- (Near Mint minus) means the record is close to new with at most minimal signs of play. VG (Very Good) for the sleeve means clear signs of wear. All grades are explained on our Vinyl Grading page.

Do you have more records by The Mighty Diamonds?
Yes, for example The Mighty Diamonds – Right Time. More titles are in our Reggae, Ska & Dub collection.
